Job Title: Accountant II

Contract: 7 Months, Opportunity for Indefinite 

Workplace: Hybrid – 2/3 days in our Amsterdam office per week

Hours: 40 hours per week

Reports to: Director, Finance - Global Accounting

This role is part of the Commerce finance team in Amsterdam, supporting the development and distribution of in-house giftcard concepts and experience boxes across Retail, B2B, and online channels. The team also manages financial operations for the external distribution of over 50 major brands, including exclusive partnerships with retailers.

• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, and investigate variances between actuals and planned figures to support strategic decision-making.
• Accounting & Controls: Perform first-level period-end checks, manage invoice control, and ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
• Attention to Detail: Track sales discrepancies and unresolved transactions, ensuring financial data integrity across systems.
• Client Communication: Act as the primary finance contact for client leads, addressing queries and providing timely support.
• Audit & Compliance Support: Assist with internal and external audits and contribute to accurate and timely VAT return submissions.
• Project Involvement: Support various ad hoc finance projects, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Educational Background & Experience: Completed MBO/HBO-level financial degree with relevant work experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills, including use of SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, and PivotTables; experienced in handling large datasets.
• Accounting Knowledge: Familiar with year-end closing processes and supporting internal and external audits.
• Language Skills: Fluent in both Dutch and English, with excellent communication abilities.
