The online gift card space is a high-risk segment. It attracts its fair share of malicious actors, each looking to make a quick dollar. Gift Cards are also a highly convenient option for consumers to buy gifts for friends and family or to capitalize on great promotional offers. The Risk Analytics Manager, EMEA is on the front line of identifying and targeting fraud to keep our millions of users secure and engaged.  The Risk Analytics Manager applies her/his analytical and technical skills on researching data, monitoring, and creating logics that stop fraudulent activity across all Blackhawk Network platforms. She/he analyze existing loss trends and define logics, solutions, and operational processes that prevent them - while delivering best-in-class customer experience for Blackhawk Network users.  Ability to effectively organize workload to move multiple projects forward at the same time while keeping communication open cross functionally will be critical for success.

 

Location: Hybrid role - must be near a Blackhawk EMEA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and influence internal and external business partners on risk issues that have a critical impact on the success of the company’s direct-to-consumer strategic objectives.
  • Create and promote risk-based frameworks and strategies for optimizing the quality of risk model decisioning (e.g., minimize false positives and false negatives).
  • Leverage data science tactics to identify and delineate behaviors into good user stories (i.e., virtuous behavior) from bad user stories (i.e., malicious behavior).
  • Author and monitor the performance of macro and transactional fraud rules
  • Build advanced reports and dashboards with Power BI to visualize trends, highlight anomalies and drive near real time business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a continuous monitoring system to assess the operational effectiveness of critical risk functions.
  • Investigate, analyze and author rules to detect and prevent fraudsters from accessing EMEA Direct to Consumer (DTC) and Business to Business (B2B) sites to exchange compromised gift card codes
  • Coordinate EMEA spoof site detection & shutdown efforts with external vendors and internal risk teams.
  • Lead the EMEA expansion of the BHN Protect initiative, coordinating these efforts into a global framework and implement the necessary education, training and rules across participating DPs & CPs
  • Manage EMEA DTC risk vendor performance as well as business stakeholders to deliver optimized business results
  • Partner with different risk teams to optimize risk strategies across One4all and other EMEA Cashstar properties
  • As EMEA B2B/B2C sites incorporate the new BHN payment architecture, manage performance to minimize manual risk reviews while keeping approval rates near 100%.

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of data analysis and modeling experience
  • Big data environment with hands on coding experience within various traditional data and open-source tools (SQL, SAS, Python, etc.)
  • Advanced data visualization experience
  • Excellent quantitative and analytic skills, including the ability to identify patterns, trends, insights, and perform risk/reward trade-off analytics
  • Ability to build effective presentations to communicate analytical findings
  • Effective cross-functional project, resource, and stakeholder, with ability to effectively drive collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to make decisions independently with minimal guidance from management.
  • Experience in volume driven and time sensitive work environments.
  • Extensive experience/knowledge with MS Office applications & My SQL
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent follow-through
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; can communicate effectively in writing or verbally with technical and non-technical team members
  • High emotional intelligence, a can-do mentality, and a creative approach to problem-solving
  • Patient, diplomatic, and collaborative

Education

  • BA/BS (prefer) or equivalent work experience.
